Ad Astra (Installation) - Video access upon request
About the project:
Ad Astra, a collaboration between Guillaume Thomas and myself, is an art installation produced by Le Fresnoy, Studio national des arts contemporains. The installation delves into the concept of "astral prints," featuring Anna Cleveland, a Modigliani-esque figure, as the embodiment of this idea. The work invites viewers on a cosmic journey, visualizing thirty years of planetary movements and the astral imprints of human exploration.
My Role:
As the project's Creative Technologist, I was responsible for both the technological and artistic dimensions:
Photogrammetry: I employed this technique to volumetrically scan Anna, converting her head into a planetary representation.
Modeling and Animation: Rigging, skin texturing, and the development of intricate shaders and blueprints in Unreal Engine were crucial components of my work.
Environment Design: I crafted digital worlds, orchestrated cinematic shots, and integrated VFX to enhance the visual narrative.
Workflow: A seamless transition between Blender and Unreal Engine was established, ensuring the project's depth and realism.
The culmination of these efforts resulted in Ad Astra being a testament to the synergy of art and technology, offering viewers an immersive space odyssey experience.
